Socioeconomic inequalities significantly impact the spread and outcomes of infectious diseases, as the COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated.
To address these challenges, the ISI Foundation is organizing the ECOSOCEPI workshop on November 19-20 to explore how economic and social factors influence epidemic dynamics.
The event will focus on understanding the pathways through which socioeconomic conditions affect transmission patterns and disease outcomes.
The workshop will cover three main dimensions:
- Socioeconomic Determinants and Disease Outcomes
Examining how factors such as income, education, and employment status influence the vulnerability and progression of infectious diseases. - Behavioral Responses and Socioeconomic Factors
Analyzing the impact of socioeconomic conditions on behaviors like social distancing, vaccination uptake, and other protective measures. - Integrating Socioeconomic Factors into Epidemic Models
Discussing methods and tools for incorporating these variables into epidemic modeling to improve predictions and public health strategies.
This workshop will bring together experts from public health, modeling, and economics to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and develop a deeper understanding of the role of socioeconomic conditions in shaping epidemic dynamics.
The workshop is free:
