Wednesday, December 18, 2019

2.30 p.m.

ISI seminar room 1st floor

Miriam Redi, Wikimedia Foundation - San Francisco, California

Knowledge equity is a foundational principle of the Wikimedia movement. It drives efforts to break down the social, political, and technical barriers preventing people from accessing free knowledge. In this talk, we will see how computer vision and machine learning can support knowledge equity and help democratizing the access to knowledge. We will look at technologies designed to  bridge knowledge gaps in Wikipedia and Wikidata, and we will learn how science can promote  knowledge integrity and help monitoring information quality in Wikimedia spaces.
