ISI Foundation co-authored paper on a new influenza forecasting model receives a Best Paper Honorable Mention at WWW2017

“Forecasting Seasonal Influenza Fusing Digital Indicators and a Mechanistic Disease Model” received a Best Paper Honorable Mention at WWW2017, the 26th International World Wide Web Conference in Perth, Australia. Co-authored by ISI Foundation Research Leader Daniela Paolotti, ISI Principal Researcher Michele Tizzoni, ISI PhD Student Daniela Perrotta, and the Vice Chair of ISI Scientific Advisory Board Alessandro Vespignani (with Qian Zhang, Northeastern University, and Nicola Perra, University of Greenwich), the paper proposes the first seasonal influenza forecast framework based on a stochastic, spatially structured mechanistic model, initialized with geo-localized microblogging data.
