HSE University is currently expanding research in computational social science and developing several avenues of research: digital data on migration and migrant integration; research on social capital and structure of local networks in Russian regions, cities and towns in relation to local economic and political development; digital data on urban life (mobile phones data and social networks sites data); diverse aspects of research on well-being and psychology, including agression and cyberbullying, digital data on psychopathology and Dark Triad etc.; online data on social movements and political activity in Russia and Europe; and other topics. HSE University is now in negotiations with major IT companies on obtaining the data from Russian SNS (VKontakte and Odnoklassniki) analogous to Facebook. The aim of the talk is to present preliminary plans and discuss them with colleagues.
